2017 Steamworks
We competed in FIRST Steamworks as a 2nd year team. This year our challenge involved yellow gear shaped game pieces called Gears and yellow wiffle balls called Fuel. Teams start off autonomously shooting Fuel in the high goal and/or low goal. Teams could also deliver gears to the Air Ship. After autonomous, drivers take control and teams continue to score by shooting in the high goal and/or low goal, and/or delivering gears to the Air Ship. At a period of the match called End Game, teams climb on the Air Ship to try to get more points. For more information about the competition, watch the official FIRST Steamworks animation to the right. See below for information about the team's season and robot.

2017 Robot: Funk
Auto
This year the programming team deliver the gears in auto by using the retro reflective tape as guide. They used Axis camera and wrote code using Open CV that allows the robot can deliver the gears from the right, left and center. The video below shows autonomous code, how it works and the robot in autonomous delivering a gear to the right side of the air ship.
Gear intake
Our gear intake is passive. We get gears by going up to the alliance loading station and collect a gear by a human player. We deliver gears to the airship by driving up to the peg. Once the gear is in the peg, we drive away. Climber
Our rope climbing system can be best described as a lasso. The rope drops in the middle and using two full sized cims motors, the lasso like rope on the robot is able to grab on the dropped rope, pull it in and warp it around the pole. This helps us climb the rope. We won the creativity award at Bridgewater, MA and at worlds championship in St.Louis, due to our unique rope climbing. |
